Our speaker today, Jake Harris, brought Jan & John Harris to breakfast today. It was lovely to hear his mom talk about his independent success and their pride of his character and accomplishments. Thanks Jan, we agree!
We were told some very sad news this morning by Jay Dahlberg that Rick Murphy of Technowledge passed away this previous Sunday 9/22. Our hearts are broken, and we send our condolences to his wife Kristen and their children, as well as his staff at Technowledge. As soon as I know about a memorial service, I will let everyone know.
I’d like to encourage everyone to read our bylaws. They can be found on the website at the bottom of the home page. Knowing what our goals are, and proper procedures can benefit everyone. That said, there have been several questions regarding absences. The rule is that if you miss a meeting, regardless of having someone share a lead for you, it is still counted as an absence. You just won’t owe the $2.00 for no lead. For members who attend regularly, a periodic absence will not put you in violation of the attendance policy so no need to worry.
Though I have posted this several times, I wanted to share it again. Bylaw 7.04: “Giving and receiving Leads is the cornerstone of the Association. Members are expected to give Direct Leads, Referrals and Thank Yous at the weekly meetings. Each member should have at least one Lead each week. If a member fails to give at least one Lead, that member will be “fined” $2.00 by the Secretary. Leave the $2.00 at your table with your name so the Secretary knows who paid it. If a member will miss a meeting and has not given their Leads to another member to give at the meeting, the member will be expected to pay their $2.00 at the next meeting.” So, technically the $2.00 fine is not for the “table” or the Christmas party, that is just how we’ve used the monies in the past. We do intend to continue this practice with the monies collected, I just wanted to put this note out there for our members not observing the correct procedure.

Quorum:
Discussion and Action:
On 9/11/24 an email vote was conducted to vote on Jason Leimkuhl taking over as the primary member for HVAC Solutions as Tim Donegan has resigned. A motion was made by Steve Dufaud to accept him into the membership. That motion was seconded by Bob Goss. Two members of the board did not reply to the email, but all others voted in agreement.
Other business:
Discussion on our members not understanding the requirement of giving a lead each week and the $2.00 fine assessed in absence of a lead. Karole Campbell briefly covered it in our announcements at this morning’s meeting but will reach out to two members who may not fully understand.
The other bylaw discussed was 10.2 which states, “Certain conduct is per se inconsistent with objectives of the Association and as such shall constitute ground for immediate expulsion from membership. Such conduct includes, but is not limited to, fraud, kickbacks or referral fees between members, asking or requiring a lead for a lead between members, criminal conduct relating to client or customer contracts.” The board feels if referral fees are paid as a company policy and not an exclusive benefit to the membership, that practice would not be in violation of the bylaws.
